Method · Proportionality
Consequence determines assurance depth.
What could happen if this knowledge is wrong, missing or misunderstood? That determines how closely you need to examine it and what evidence you need.
Match the evidence and depth of the review to what is at stake. Greater consequences and uncertainty call for closer examination. We still need to test whether this approach achieves a good balance between effort and benefit in practice.
What changes the evidence threshold?
- foreseeable impact if the knowledge is wrong, unavailable or misunderstood;
- uncertainty in the knowledge or its evidence;
- dependency on a person, supplier, system or generated output;
- rate of change;
- difficulty and time needed to recover the capability;
- availability of meaningful challenge.
Keep the scope manageable
Start with one piece of work and the knowledge it needs. Bring in other teams, processes or systems when you find that the work depends on them.
ArtiProof is ready for research, but has not yet been broadly validated by independent researchers. The first independent replication is still pending. More about the research.
