Method · Knowledge types

Three forms of organisational knowledge.

ArtiProof distinguishes three types of knowledge by their role in the work. This helps you examine where the knowledge comes from, who can use it and where it may be vulnerable.

Source Knowledge

Knowledge grounded in identifiable reference points such as legislation, policy, contracts, standards, specifications, approved records, manuals, procedures or validated datasets. A source can still be outdated, misunderstood or incorrectly applied.

Craft Knowledge

Knowledge developed through practice, experience, professional judgement and repeated exposure to real situations. It includes exceptions, contextual interpretation, institutional history and know-how that may never be fully captured in a procedure.

Generated Knowledge

Knowledge produced, inferred, transformed or synthesised by technological systems, including AI, analytics, rules engines, automated calculations, classifications and generated summaries. Generated Knowledge is not presumed weaker or stronger than human knowledge; evidence depends on intended use and consequence.

Role-relative, not boxes. The same artefact may function differently in different contexts. A generated report may later become a source in another process. Classification follows the role the knowledge plays in the assessed object.

ArtiProof is ready for research, but has not yet been broadly validated by independent researchers. The first independent replication is still pending. More about the research.
