Exploratory research direction

How does knowledge
reach the right people?

More messages, documents and summaries do not automatically make clear what someone needs to know. This research direction explores how relevant knowledge reaches people in a form suited to their role and decision.

The question

Can we reduce the flow of messages and documents while helping people understand what they need to do? We are exploring whether it is useful to treat distributing information and transferring knowledge as two distinct questions.

Possible research questions

  • What knowledge does a particular role need for a specific decision?
  • How can sources, context and uncertainty remain visible when information is summarised?
  • How can we check whether a recipient can use the knowledge to act, explain and adjust?

Where are we now?

We are exploring the question and still need to develop the measures. This work sits alongside the current ArtiProof method. Any future extension of the method will depend on research findings and a separate decision.
